Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously; demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Ensure specimens are properly labeled, centrifuged, split, and frozen as required by test order.
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperatures; comply with OSHA regulations.
