Job summary

6 Degrees Search is seeking a Phlebotomist to support blood collection and specimen handling across the Waukegan and Chicago area. The position requires travel with mileage reimbursed and 8:00am–7:30pm availability, varied by site.

This contract role has an initial duration of 3 months with potential for permanency, and benefits are available. Candidates must have a valid state phlebotomy certification and meet minimum experience requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum 2 years of experience

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain clearly and courteously the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles and ensure matches between requisitions and specimen tubes.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures, following protocol to maintain integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
