Job summary

Software Placement Group in the Chicago/Waukegan area is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract assignment with potential for permanent placement. You will perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge, and ensure accurate specimen handling across multiple locations. On-site, full-time work with hours varying 8am–7:30pm.

Mileage expenses are paid and benefits are available. Qualifications include valid phlebotomy certification, 6 months venipuncture experience, high school diploma or GED,

Qualifications

  • Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment, as required in some states.
  • Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately
  • Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order
  • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
  • Update patient information in accordance with established procedures
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
  • Clearly and courteously explain the venipuncture and/or other specimen collection process to patients
  • Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
  • Fully understand and follow physicians' orders
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes
  • Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
  • Package specimens for transport, maintaining required temperature and proper container/tube use
  • Follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
  • Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
  • Attend annual department trainings
  • Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
  • Troubleshoot issues, assist with training, and make workflow recommendations

Overview

What you'll do
