Job summary

HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital is seeking a Lab Phlebotomist to perform specimen collection, processing, and registration under supervision. The role emphasizes accurate testing procedures and patient education, ensuring quality and timely specimen handling in a fast-paced lab environment.

Responsibilities include venipuncture/finger sticks across age groups, LIS documentation, and coordination with referral labs.

• Effectively communicate with all personnel to exchange accurate and timely technical information.
• May assist in communication to customers, floors, physicians regarding problem and/or pending specimens.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates thorough understanding of specimen collection and testing requirements.
• Proficiency in venipunctures and/or finger sticks across age groups.
• Follows procedures for patient identification and specimen collection orders.
• Completes specimen collection documentation and education of patient/family.
• Uses computer information system for job functions and performs clerical duties.
• Maintains records and resolves OSR and pending specimen issues.
• Receives specimens into LIS and performs registration and order entry.
• Centrifuges and aliquots specimens as required and prepares for courier pickup.
