Job summary

HCA Florida North Florida Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist to join our team. The role involves specimen collection, processing, registration, and documentation under supervision, supporting service quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications include 1–3 years in a clinical lab setting, phlebotomy or related certification preferred, and a vocational/technical degree. Strong customer service and teamwork are essential for daily operations.

• May assist in communication to customers, floors, physicians.
• 2+ years’ experience in registration, clerical duties, and specimen processing.

• Available to work during disasters.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in specimen collection (venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks).
• Process and document specimens; prepare for courier pickup and referrals.
• Enter orders and register specimens; ensure accurate labeling per protocol.
• Use LIS; manage OSR and pending specimen issues; troubleshoot problems.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; assist with clerical duties as needed.
• Monitor specimen status to meet turnaround times; communicate issues promptly.
