Job summary

AdventHealth in Florida is seeking a Laboratory Technician/Phlebotomy role to support specimen collection, processing, and basic lab tasks in a patient‑focused environment.

You will perform phlebotomy, assist with specimen handling, ensure accuracy of patient data, and comply with safety and infection control policies while delivering excellent customer service. The position requires high school diploma, phlebotomy training, ability to use computer systems, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy training preferred.
• Phlebotomy skills and knowledge of specimen collection and handling.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety policies.

Responsibilities

• May perform cytopreparatory staining and accessions surgical cases with knowledge of anatomy.
• May receive and set up primary specimen cultures, inoculating petri dishes for bacterial growth.
• May clean and disinfect lab equipment and spaces, maintaining inventory control and supply stocking.
• Participates in performance improvement activities, including evaluating new equipment and procedures.
• Provides resolution to customer service issues within guidelines and supports education to clinical staff.
• Follows appropriate safety policies including PPE, handwashing, and hazardous chemical handling.
• Collects patient, physician, and test order information to create patient accounts, verifying identification, insurance, credentials, and requirements.
• May perform blood specimen collection, including phlebotomy and skin puncture for all age groups.
• Loads preanalytical instruments or delivers specimens to the testing department.
• May transport hazardous waste following training and proper handling procedures.
• May perform blood and/or blood component processing, storing, shipping, and evaluating specimens.
• Other duties as assigned.
