Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Burke Centre, VA is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician to perform venipuncture, specimen collection, processing, and quality assurance while complying with all Kaiser policies and regulatory requirements. The role provides guidance under the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager and contributes to safe, efficient lab operations.

Responsibilities include collecting blood samples, preparing specimens for transport, and supporting customer service and training initiatives within the lab

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year laboratory experience that includes six months of full-time work in a medical environment involving phlebotomy, patient reception, and related clerical duties OR successful completion of a Phlebotomy Clinical Rotation in a Kaiser Permanente Laboratory with 120 unassisted venipures.
• Current KP Coalition employees have this experience requirement waived.
• Licensing, certification, and registration must be maintained per CLIA and licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greets and identifies members and collects blood samples via age-appropriate venipuncture or capillary puncture per KP guidelines.
• Instructs patients on collection and packaging of other specimens and ensures specimen integrity for transport.
• Maintains safety by disposing of biological waste and hazardous materials per regulations and maintains clean, stocked work area.
• Responds to inquiries via phone, email, or text to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction; provides orientation and training to new hires and students.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
