Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Phlebotomist/Laboratory Technical Assistant for a 5:00-13:30 shift. You will perform phlebotomy, collect a variety of specimens, and enter orders into hospital LIS/HIS with ABN compliance. Additional duties include processing specimens, ensuring safety, and supporting quality control initiatives.

Required: high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: phlebotomy technician certification and prior lab experience.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: Certified as a phlebotomy technician.
• Previous experience drawing blood or phlebotomy training in an approved program.
• Previous experience in a clinical laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs proper specimen collection (blood and non-blood) including patient prep, labeling, handling, and storage.
• Collects, verifies, and processes patient registration data and test orders into LIS/HIS with ABN compliance.
• Processes specimens according to established guidelines.
• Maintains safe, clean environment and protects patients and staff per policies.
• Performs waived tests and assists with other testing platforms.
• Assists in quality control and performance improvement activities.
