Job summary

Mercy Health in Fairfield Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the laboratory team. The phlebotomist will draw quality blood samples, prepare specimens for testing and handle clerical duties to keep the department efficient.

Essential functions include greeting patients, accurate patient identification, proper specimen processing, data entry, and off-site travel as needed. High school or GED required; phlebotomist certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred but not required.
• One-year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and provide excellent customer service.
• Collect specimens according to procedures and ensure proper processing.
• Accurately identify patients and match identity with service to ensure safety.
• Enter data and process specimens (labeling, centrifuging, splitting, freezing).
• Perform clerical duties and answer phones as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues and assist with off-site travel as required.
