Job summary

The Laboratory Department at Mercy Health – Fairfield Hospital is seeking a Phlebotomist to join our team. The Phlebotomist draws blood, prepares specimens for testing, and performs clerical duties to keep the lab running smoothly.

Education: High School diploma or GED; Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required. Experience with phlebotomy and customer service in a retail or service setting is a plus. This is a 20-hour weekly, day-shift position at Fairfield.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy Certification preferred but not required.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draws blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing.
• Performs clerical duties and data entry to support the laboratory workflow.
• Identifies patients accurately and ensures correct patient-service matching for safety.
• Gathers specimens according to procedures, labels, and processes them as ordered.
• Responds to calls and supports inventory, phone duties and general lab tasks.
