Job Description:

• The Phlebotomist III- Float represents the face of our company to patients who come to Quest Diagnostics, either as part of their health routine or for health insights. The Phlebotomist draws quality blood samples from patients, preparing specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures.
• Responsible for creating a trusting environment by explaining procedures and drawing blood safely, accurately, and skillfully.
• Provides coverage at multiple locations and roles, ensuring daily activities are completed accurately and on time.
• Demonstrates leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
• May be assigned to work in various settings such as doctor’s offices, patient service centers, mobile units, long-term care, or as dictated by business needs.
• Must be able to step in for other Float Phlebotomists and lead onsite staff.
• Acts as a coach, mentor, instructor, and resource for new employees and clients.
• Serves as a point of contact for onsite staff and provides input to supervisors.
• Handles high-complexity or high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills and strong customer service skills, including communication, problem-solving, and collaboration with multiple functions like Sales, Laboratory, IT, Billing, and Logistics.
• Capable of managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training such as medical assistant or paramedic preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• At least five years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum of 3 years in a Patient Service Center/In-Office Phlebotomy environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in retail or service sectors preferred.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
