Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Sterling, VA is hiring a Phlebotomist II to cover Monday to Wednesday, 7:40 AM to 5:30 PM. The role collects specimens, administers basic tests, and uses lab information systems to verify orders and enter data accurately.

A minimum of three years phlebotomy experience and a high school diploma or equivalent are required; phlebotomy certification is preferred. Responsibilities include patient interaction, specimen handling, data entry, and adherence to policies.

Qualifications

• Three years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Keyboard/data entry experience.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record, if applicable.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures.
• Administer oral solutions according to established training.
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab technology systems.
• Navigate a computer and accurately enter data.
• Obtain identification and accurately enter billing information and collect payments when required.
• Process specimens including labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and preparing for transport.
• Perform non-patient facing duties including inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and using email.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and maintenance logs.
