Job summary

Pride Health is seeking a Phlebotomist II to support our client’s healthcare facility in Columbus, OH 43213. The role entails a 7 am–5 pm schedule, Monday to Friday with rotating Saturdays, and local contract/ permanent/per diem terms.

This float position will require travel to prison locations in Orient, OH and London, OH. The pay is $22 per hour, with mileage reimbursement; contract length is 3 months, and pay is experience-based.

Qualifications

• Experience performing venipuncture and blood draws.
• Knowledge of labeling and handling specimens.
• Ability to centrifuge and process samples per procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
• Collect and store specimens per established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly to patients.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles.
• Match requisitions to tubes and prepare specimens for testing.
• Package specimens for transport and store at required temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens in accordance with established procedures.
• Properly explain in a clear but courteous manner the process of the venipuncture (blood drawing) and or other specimen collection (ex. urine or fecal) as required.
• Demonstrate technique/s using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all of the physicians' orders. Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against the script to ensure 100% correctness.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Stores specimens at the required temperature and places them.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or GED is required.
• A minimum of 3-5 yr. of phlebotomy experience is required.
