Job summary

ProMedica is seeking a Phlebotomist for Defiance Regional Hospital to collect specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for patients before, during, and after collection. The role includes pre-analytic preparation, sample packaging, and QA-driven process improvements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or documented phlebotomy experience.
• Must be able to differentiate colors.
• 1 year of phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect products and/or specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection.
• Perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and specimen packaging.
• Use quality assurance data to enhance services and address quality issues.
• Familiar with test names and abbreviations and cross-referencing tests to specimen types.
• Follow asepsis and antisepsis principles and assist in training new associates or students.
