ProMedica Defiance Hospital is seeking a part-time phlebotomist to collect specimens and perform testing while providing patient care before, during, and after collection. The role involves pre-analytic tasks and adherence to asepsis/antisepsis standards.

Leadership may be used to train new associates or students. The position supports weekend shifts and requires color recognition and at least 1 year of experience after completing phlebotomy training.

Job Summary

As a ProMedica Phlebotomist, you will collect products and/or specimens for procedures and perform testing while caring for the patient before, during and after collection. You will perform pre-analytic tasks for sample preparation including centrifugation, decanting, specimen distribution and specimen packaging. In this role, you will use quality assurance data to enhance services and recommend changes in procedures to address quality issues and provide customer satisfaction. You are required to be familiar with test names and abbreviations and cross-referencing tests to specimen types. You will also be required to follow strict principles of asepsis and antisepsis and use your leadership skills to help train new associates or students. REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program or documented phlebotomy experience (Ex. Venipunctures, Experience with Effective Puncture Techniques, Blood Draws).
• Must be able to differentiate colors.
• 1 year of experience.
