Quest Diagnostics in Big Rapids, MI seeks a Phlebotomist I to phlebotomize patients in a fast-paced hospital setting. You will draw blood, label specimens, and ensure accurate data entry. The role includes rotating weekends and a Monday–Friday schedule with early hours.

This position emphasizes patient care, strict adherence to safety protocols, and collaboration with nursing and laboratory teams. A high school diploma and phlebotomy skills are required; some locations prefer phlebotomy

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience with pediatric, geriatric and capillary collections preferred.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call and overtime.
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all age groups.
• Accurately label and process specimens according to laboratory protocol.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy carts and work areas.
• Administer oral solutions as trained (e.g., Glucola).
• Data entry and processing specimens including labeling, centrifuging, and freezing as required by test order.
• Complete departmental duties such as inventory and answering phones when needed.
• Follow all policies and procedures and ensure staff compliance.
• Observe infection control and safety protocols at all times.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs and entry of patient registration data when applicable.
• Assist training of new staff or students as needed.
