Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Royal Oak, MI is seeking a Phlebotomist I to collect specimens, process samples, and support billing and record keeping. The role requires strong English communication, accurate data entry, and adherence to lab procedures.

The position Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with every 4th Saturday 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, and full-time hours. Salary and benefits depend on experience and part/full-time status.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training preferred (medical assistant or paramedic).
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA.
• One year phlebotomy experience preferred.
• English communication proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens according to established procedures (drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams).
• Administer oral solutions per training.
• Research test/client information and verify orders using lab systems and client contacts.
• Navigate computer and accurately enter data.
• Obtain identification and enter billing information; collect payments per policy.
• Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing and transport as required.
• Perform non-patient-facing duties: inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones and using email.
• Read, understand and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.
• Assist with compilation/submission of statistics and data when required.
• Maintain phlebotomy logs (maintenance, temperature logs) timely.
• Complete online and in-person training courses timely.
