Job summary

Franklin County Medical Center seeks a Phlebotomist in a temporary role with potential transition to PRN. The position supports the Laboratory under the Laboratory Manager, 24 hours per week, two 12-hour shifts, days.

Responsibilities include collecting specimens from all ages, preparing samples, and performing basic clerical tasks while upholding safety and quality standards. A high school diploma and phlebotomy certification or six months of experience are required, with benefits for staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy training certification or six months of phlebotomy experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and lab equipment.
• Basic typing, computer skills and accurate record keeping.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy on infants, children, and adults.
• Instruct patients regarding sample collection and routing.
• Process specimens with proper labeling, centrifugation, storage, and packaging.
• Input patient demographics and orders into the lab computer and retrieve results.
• Perform basic analytic procedures under supervision of Laboratory Manager.
• Handle related clerical duties such as calls, copies, filing, and requisitions.
