Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Phlebotomist to provide high-quality specimen collection and processing in a fast-paced patient service center and lab.

You will perform venipuncture and handle specimens, maintain records, and support training and process improvements while delivering courteous care to patients from pediatric to geriatric ages in Fairfax, VA. This contract-to-hire role offers onsite work and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where required.
• Strong customer service skills with pediatric to geriatric patients.
• Proven phlebotomy experience with straight and butterfly needles.
• Attention to detail in labeling and specimen handling.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and blood draws safely and efficiently.
• Collect, label, and store specimens per procedures.
• Explain venipuncture steps clearly to patients.
• Verify patient/test information against requisitions.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Check requisitions against provider scripts for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport with proper temperature control.
• Maintain specimen storage and container integrity.
• Follow OSHA and DEP safety guidelines.
• Update patient information in applicable systems.
• Assist with training and process improvements.
• Contribute to workflow improvements and efficiency.
