Job summary

RRC Solutions Group is seeking a qualified Phlebotomist for a contract role in Castleton-on-Hudson, NY, with alternating Saturday shifts in Latham. The candidate will perform venipunctures, label and process specimens, and ensure accurate data entry and specimen transport per procedures.

Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience is required along with a state phlebotomy certification. Benefits are available; position is 3 months with potential for permanent placement.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where employed.
• Minimum of 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles; follow physician orders and match forms to tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure accuracy; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens per required temperature; label containers and transport as needed.
