Job summary

Your Talent Team is seeking a Phlebotomist for a contract role in Castleton, NY with alternating Saturdays in Latham. Typical schedule is Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:00pm and Saturday 7:00am-10:00am, for an initial 3-month term with potential to become permanent.

Requires phlebotomy certification and hands-on venipuncture experience; benefits available. The role emphasizes specimen collection, labeling, processing, data entry, and adherence to OSHA/DEP regulations.

Qualifications

• 2 years of phlebotomy experience required.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process in a clear and courteous manner.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles; match laboratory requisition forms to tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions against scripts to ensure correctness; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure transport to maintain integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
