Responsibilities include blood collection, labeling, and data recording while ensuring accuracy and compliance with OSHA regulations. Minimal qualification includes phlebotomy cert and 6 months of venipuncture experience.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment where required.
• Minimum of 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• High School Diploma or GED completion.
• Minimum 2 years of related phlebotomy experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label and centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information.
• Collect and store specimens per procedures; explain venipuncture process clearly as required.
• Demonstrate venipuncture techniques using straight or butterfly needles.
• Match requisitions to tubes; label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens as needed.
• Verify test requisitions against labels to ensure 100% accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and maintain integrity; comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and relay laboratory results as requested.
