Qualifications

• 5+ years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Phlebotomy certification required for the state of employment.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and butterfly needles.
• Understand physicians' orders.
• Match requisition forms to specimens, label, centrifuge, and freeze as required.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport.
• Store specimens per required temperatures and protocols; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer calls and read lab results to satisfy inquiries.
