Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Cary, NC is seeking a Clinical Services Technician to collect specimens from patients of all ages and ensure accurate labeling and handling. The role focuses on minimizing patient discomfort while maintaining precision in sample collection and documentation.

The technician will process and allocate laboratory specimens and orders from multiple sources, verify patient and order details, and prioritize workflow to meet timely testing deadlines.

Qualifications

• Utilize equipment, instruments and computer systems to test, accession, label and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames.
• Perform procedures within established testing methods and responsibilities.
• Document routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
• Train new employees in theoretical and operational aspects of the position and serve as a resource for less experienced coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
