Job summary

WakeMed Health & Hospitals is seeking a Clinical Services Technician to collect and process specimens across age groups with minimal patient impact. You will verify patient and specimen identification, organize workflow, prioritize distribution, and use equipment and computer systems to manage test requests and labeling.

In addition to routine maintenance and quality control, you will train new staff and serve as a resource for coworkers.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent Required.
• 1 Year Related Position Experience Preferred.
• Performs routine maintenance and quality control on specified equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collect specimens from all age groups as assigned with minimal patient impact.
• Process and allocate laboratory specimens and orders from all sources.
• Verify proper patient and specimen identification and order accuracy.
• Prioritize processing and distribution of specimens within acceptable time frames.
• Operate requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test requests, accession, label and deliver specimens.
• Train new employees in theoretical and operational aspects of this position and serve as a resource for less experienced co-workers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
