Job summary

San José State University’s Department of Philosophy is seeking a part-time Department Administrative Analyst to provide complex administrative, budgetary, and operational support to the Department Chair, faculty, staff, and students. The role reports to the Director of Resources and Operations and assists with budgets, personnel processes, recruitment, and curriculum-related activities.

Responsibilities include monitoring budgets, processing financial documents, supporting faculty appointments

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training.
  • Administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to policy or program improvements.
  • Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Experience with budgets, reimbursements, and payroll-related transactions.
  • Knowledge of university policies and departmental procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, monitor, reconcile, and report on department budgets and accounts.
  • Process purchase requisitions, travel requests, reimbursements, and payroll-related transactions.
  • Support faculty appointments, scheduling, and curriculum-related activities.
  • Liaise between the department, college, university offices, and the public.
  • Coordinate meetings, events, and operational improvements.
