Job summary

CSL in Michigan is seeking a Donor Apheresis Technician to support the pheresis process. You will prepare the donor, the donor area and equipment, monitor the donor and the procedure, respond to alarms, and disconnect the donor when the process is complete.

You will record incidents on the PDA, link equipment to donors, ensure accurate data in the donor information system, and follow HSE/OSHA policies while keeping the work area clean and supplies ready.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents on the PDA, including machine alerts, alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor using PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per SOPs.
• Understand policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs at the center.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure supplies are available; follow HSE and OSHA policies and promote safety.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
