Job summary

CSL Houston center is seeking an Apheresis Technician to prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process, monitor the procedure, and respond to alarms. You will disconnect the donor once complete and record incidents in the donor information system.

Responsibilities include maintaining safety, keeping supplies stocked, and ensuring confidentiality of donor data in accordance with SOPs and HSE/OSHA policies. Basic math and a short training will be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process, respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions during or after pheresis and notify appropriate staff.
• Record incidents during pheresis using the PDA, including machine alerts and donor events.
• Link equipment and supplies used to the appropriate donor in the system.
• Alert supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate donor data is recorded in the donor information system per SOPs.
• Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow HSE/OSHA policies; protect donor confidentiality.
• May be cross-trained in other areas as needed.
