Job summary

CSL in Syracuse, NY is seeking a Pheresis Support Technician to prepare donors, donor areas and equipment for pheresis procedures. You will monitor donors and machines, respond to alarms, and ensure accurate data recording in the donor information system.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 months of relevant medical experience, with basic math skills. Training covers safety, confidentiality, and cross-training opportunities as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three months of work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain awareness of donor reactions during or after the process and notify staff.
• Record incidents in the PDA for machine alerts, alarms, variances and donor adverse events.
• Link equipment and supplies to the donor in the PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
• Follow policies for hyper immune programs where applicable.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and ensure adequate supplies; follow HSE and OSHA policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas; bilingual skills may be required.
