Compensation Range: $18.00 - $23.81

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual salaries will be set within this range based on various factors.

Responsibilities
GENERAL SUMMARY

Trains and participates in inventory management, storage, preparation, and delivery of medications. Manages phone triage and medication requests, deferring clinical decisions to a pharmacist. Communicates effectively with colleagues, customers, patients, and hospital staff. Completes training for the PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Essential Functions
  • Participates in medication storage, inventory, and stock management, including automated systems. Checks expiration dates and minimizes waste.
  • Provides customer service, employs courtesy, triages calls, and handles medication requests, always maintaining confidentiality.
  • Prepares for PTCB Certification through the PTU program, completing coursework, rotations, and simulations under supervision. Ensures timely completion of all program requirements.
  • Participates in medication delivery activities, including using pneumatic tube systems and hand delivery, with proper documentation.
  • Assists in medication preparation, including obtaining, packaging, and documenting medications, ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Must be enrolled in the URMC ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (PTTP) or become certified via an alternative method within 180 days.
  • PHAR-C - Certified Pharmacy Tech via the PTCB exam within 180 days required.
