Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to support our Specialty Pharmacy operations in Norfolk, VA. The role requires a Virginia Pharmacy Tech license and CPhT certification, with at least 5 years of pharmacy experience including 2 years in IV or sterile compounding.

The technician will fill and deliver medications under supervision, maintain QA, and train new staff while utilizing Epic for medication processing and patient data management.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Virginia Pharmacy Tech License required.
• CPhT license (NHA/PTCB) required.
• 5 years pharmacy experience required.
• 2 years IV or sterile compounding experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform technician duties in IV sterile compounding under pharmacist supervision.
• Ensure adequate supplies and maintain quality assurance per legal and department standards.
• Operate pharmacy equipment and use patient information systems appropriately.
• Triages questions outside scope and escalates as needed.
• Participate in training of new employees and staff.
