Job summary

Lewis Drug in Sioux Falls, SD is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing prescriptions while ensuring patient safety and compliance with state and national regulations.

The technician will provide friendly service, learn Lewis policies, support medication delivery, maintain confidentiality, and operate pharmacy software; on‑the‑job training for certification is provided where needed.

Qualifications

• Must learn basic drug terminology.
• Understand brand vs generic drugs.
• Ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
• Must follow state and national regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service in the pharmacy and store.
• Learn Lewis Drug policies and procedures and perform them daily.
• Establish and maintain relationships with physicians and other healthcare providers.
• Answer patient questions and troubleshoot promptly.
• Answer phone calls promptly and politely.
• Assist in customer service and finish transactions at the register.
• Obtain patient information to fill prescriptions accurately.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA.
• Process new and refill prescriptions within scope of practice.
• Prepare paperwork and medications for delivery and mail orders.
• Manage drive-thru patients efficiently (if applicable).
• Report medication errors to proper personnel.
• Log into various software systems for technician tasks.
• Perform daily maintenance of automated devices.
• Stock supplies, clean areas, and prep for next day.
• Promote Lewis initiatives and represent Lewis positively.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief/Staff Pharmacist.
