Job summary

Lewis Drug Stores is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists in dispensing medications and enforcing policy compliance. The technician will assist in patient counseling, paperwork, and delivery preparations, while safeguarding HIPAA obligations and providing excellent customer service.

Applicants should meet state BOP requirements (IA/MN/SD) and aim to obtain national certification within a year.

Qualifications

• Register with state Board of Pharmacy (BOP) where applicable.
• Must be 16+ in IA and SD; 18+ in MN, with high school diploma or GED.
• Must register prior to first day worked in each state.
• National certification within 1 year of BOP registration encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service in the store and pharmacy.
• Learn Lewis Drug policies and procedures and perform them daily.
• Establish relationships with physicians and healthcare providers.
• Answer patient questions and resolve issues promptly.
• Process new and refill prescriptions within scope of practice.
• Maintain patient confidentiality per HIPAA and Lewis policy.
• Log into multiple software systems for daily technician tasks.
• Prepare paperwork and medications for delivery or mailing as needed.
• Assist drive-thru and in-store customers efficiently.
• Stock supplies and keep work area clean and organized.
