Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Pharmacy Technician, Non-Certified for our Pharmacy department. You will assist pharmacists, handle prescriptions, and maintain patient information while providing friendly service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities include processing orders, assisting with insurance billing, labeling, and stocking, as well as maintaining HIPAA compliance and a clean dispensing area.

Qualifications

• Apply logical and scientific thinking to problems with abstract and concrete variables.
• Perform arithmetic, algebraic, and geometric calculations accurately.
• Compose original correspondence, follow technical manuals, evaluate data.
• Counsel and advise customers and interact professionally with patients and staff.
• Maintain discretion and integrity with confidential patient information.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Handle inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests per supervising pharmacist.
• Contact doctors to take or request refill prescriptions as needed.
• Gather and maintain accurate patient information to prepare prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare and affix labels to containers and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing and troubleshooting.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
• Order, check in, and stock pharmacy supplies; log invoices.
• Perform cash transactions accurately.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Protect confidentiality of customers' private medical information (HIPAA).
• Adhere to statutes and regulations for pharmacy technicians.
• Collaborate with coworkers to ensure customer satisfaction and a positive environment.
