Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive pharmacy services and support the registered pharmacist in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities include processing medication orders, maintaining inventory, handling prescriptions, validating insurance, and assisting with IV admixtures for inpatients. Central fill equipment operation and other duties may also be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and pharmacy technician certification.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification; registration with PA State Board required by start date.
• One year of pharmacy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process medication orders including computer entry and preparation.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory and supplies per policies and procedures.
• Provide customer service by handling prescriptions and documenting information.
• Validate Medicaid/Medicare or commercial insurance coverage and adjudication (Outpatient Techs).
• Compound, stock, repackage and batch for inpatients; prepare IV admixtures and labeling.
• Operate central fill equipment safely (forklifts, order pickers, etc.).
• Other duties as assigned.
