Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive services and support for the registered pharmacist.

The role includes processing medication orders, maintaining inventory, handling patient prescriptions, and assisting with insurance verification and cash deposits where applicable. In outpatient settings, you will verify coverage and adjudication; in inpatient settings, you will prepare IV orders and assist with compounding and labeling.

Qualifications

• Minimum High school diploma/GED; Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT (NHA).
• Registration as Pharmacy Technician Trainee or Pharmacy Technician through PA State Board by 2026-06-28 (on hire).
• Preferred 1 year of pharmacy experience.

Responsibilities

• Processes medication orders including computer order entry, preparation and assembly before pharmacist check.
• Maintains pharmacy inventory and supplies per policies; inspect areas and use pharmacy computer systems.
• Provides customer service by taking prescriptions, documenting information, and releasing medications per policy.
• For Outpatient Techs: validates insurance coverage and adjudication; handles cash and deposits.
• For Inpatient Techs: compounds, stocks, repackages, and prepares IV orders including antibiotics and parenteral nutrition.
• Central Fill Pharmacy: safe operation of equipment (forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks).
• Other duties as assigned.
