Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist. Under the direction and final check of a licensed pharmacist, prepares, packages, and labels IV and unit dose medications according to prescriber orders and established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Sets up, organizes, and maintains work area.
2. Assists pharmacists and performs duties such as filling containers, preparing and affixing labels, prepackaging pharmaceuticals, maintaining records, and stocking supplies under their supervision.
3. Performs pharmacy computer functions as required.
4. Prepares and labels IVs, hyperalimentation solutions, chemotherapy agents, and other pharmaceutical products.
5. Responds to patient admission, transfer, discharge, and medication notices, processing physician orders according to procedures.
6. Assists in recordkeeping, billing, and accounting functions, including verifying remittances, communicating with third-party payors, entering charges and payments, making adjustments, and printing statements.
7. Assists in ordering, receiving, inspecting, and adjusting stock.
8. Maintains floor stock, crash carts, and nursing station inspection reports.
9. Assists in training pharmacy personnel and participates in performance improvement activities.
10. Provides for age-specific needs of the population served, based on standards, observations, documentation, and peer feedback.

Patient Age Groups: Newborn, Infant, Pediatric, Adolescence, Adult, Geriatric.

Additional Duties:

Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state Temporary, Limited, or Full Pharmacy Technician License; if holding a Temporary license, a Full license must be obtained within 365 days.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Computer experience.
• Previous pharmacy experience or coursework in pharmacy curriculum.
