Job summary

Independent Health in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team under a licensed pharmacist. The role is on-site with rotating shifts and a potential shift differential for second shift. A high school diploma or GED is required, and a CPhT is preferred.

The technician will set up, label and package doses, maintain patient records, and assist with sterile products, shipping, and delivery routing. A minimum of one year of high-volume pharmacy experience is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• One year of experience working in a high-volume pharmacy or equivalent setting required.
• Ability to lift 40lbs.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) preferred.
• Experience working with online claims processing system preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and an aptitude for working with other health care professionals.

Responsibilities

• Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, assist in the various activities of the pharmacy department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist.
• Maintain patient records.
• Set up, package, and label medication doses.
• Perform designated tasks regarding processing of equipment and supply orders, and preparation of sterile products.
• Package and ship medications.
• Setup and optimization of delivery routes.
• Maintain knowledge of pharmaceutical safety hazards and drug handling.
• Notify Pharmacist staff of dispensing, storage, packaging, and/or related issues.
• Proper rotation of stock, supplies, packaging materials, and shipping supplies.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the registered and packaging space.
• Must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist.
