Job summary

Summa Health System is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the Akron City campus on the 2nd shift. The role involves filling medication orders, maintaining records, and preparing IV solutions under aseptic technique; technicians handle controlled substances and stock patient care areas.

Hire on incentive of $5,000 is available. The candidate must have a high school diploma, National Certification within 1 year, and Ohio licensure to work; training will be provided for independent responsibilities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 year from date of hire.
• Licensed as a registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy at the time of hire.
• License required before working independently.

Responsibilities

Summary:

Performs tasks related to the filling of medication orders, maintains both manual and computer based records. Prepares intravenous solutions using proper aseptic techniques, supplies controlled substances. Maintains accurate records of disposition, maintains inventories in the pharmacy storeroom and work areas. Supplies medications and stock to patient care areas and appropriately charges for items supplied.

Formal Education Required:

• a. High school diploma or equivalent

Experience and Training Required:

• a. National Pharmacy Technician Certification within 1 (one) year from date of hire.
• b. Licensed as a registered pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician trainee by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy at the time of hire
• c. Licensed as a certified pharmacy technician by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy once National Pharmacy Certification is obtained.
• i. Employee may not start working independently until issuance of license.

Level of Physical Demands:
