Job summary

Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician for the night shift (9:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.) on a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule.

The inpatient pharmacy team supports clinicians by filling orders, preparing IV admixtures, and ensuring safety and accuracy of medications. Responsibilities include dose preparation, inventory management, and coordinating with hospital departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience or ASHP-accredited technician program is preferred.
• Michigan licensure as Pharmacy Technician or eligibility is preferred.
• State of Michigan licensure as Pharmacist Intern is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fills medication orders including oral, injectable, topical, and IV admixtures.
• Assists in bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
• Prepares and distributes floor stock items and maintains inventory.
• Maintains accurate documentation of medications and IV solutions.

Farmington Hills - Full time, 7 days on 7 days off, midnight shift

About the Unit

Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

About Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital

Corewell Health Farmington Hills opened on Jan. 19, 1965 as a 200-bed facility known then as Botsford General Hospital. Today, Corewell Health Farmington Hills Hospital is a 305-bed teaching facility with Level II trauma status.

Scope of work

• Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures.
• Assists in the bulk manufacturing of special pharmaceutical products.
• Prepares and distributes floor stock items in response to requisition forms.
• Inventories and restocks shelves in immediate work area, checks for outdated drugs.
• Enters charges and credits into the computer for all medications and IV admixtures dispensed from the Pharmacy, documents all medications and IV solutions returned to the Pharmacy.
• Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas and/or other departments of the Hospital.
• Performs necessary record keeping functions.
• Answers telephone and assists at Pharmacy window.
• May rotate within hospital and out-patient pharmacy service areas as required.
• Maintains the work area in a safe, orderly manner.
• Follows appropriate clean room (797) guidelines in the preparation of intravenous admixtures.

Qualifications

High school diploma program or GED. Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program.
