Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a part-time pharmacy professional for Lenox Township and St. Clair Shores outpatient pharmacies. This role supports preparation, dispensing, and patient education under pharmacist supervision, with potential rotation through IV admixture and unit-dose services.

Responsibilities include data entry, order processing, inventory checks, and assisting customers. Eligibility for MI licenses is required or preferred; 28 hours per week, day shift, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience or ASHP-accredited technician training preferred.
  • Licensing options: Pharmacy Technician licensed in MI or Pharmacist Intern licensed in MI upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions under supervision.
  • Rotate through IV admixture, unit-dose and potential OR/outpatient pharmacy services.
  • Enter patient demographics, insurance and prescriptions into the pharmacy information system; prioritize scripts.
  • Process daily drug orders and restock shelves; verify invoices and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Assist customers at lobby counter and drive-through window; answer phone calls.
  • Support training of new staff and provide IT support as needed.

Lenox Twp and St Clair Shores Outpatient Pharmacies – Part time, 24 hours per week, day shift, Monday-Friday.
About The Unit

Our team is comprised of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Our inpatient pharmacy team collaborates closely with healthcare providers to ensure optimal medication management for hospitalized patients. We oversee the medication storage, distribution, and management in a variety of settings. We review medication orders for accuracy and potential interactions, accurately prepare and dispense medications, provide evidence-based drug information, monitor drug levels to optimize therapy, and educate patients and families about their medications. By prioritizing medication safety and minimizing adverse events, we strive to improve patient outcomes and contribute to their overall well-being.

Scope of Work

Under the direction and supervision of a Pharmacist, performs a variety of functions related to preparation, storage, distribution and dispensing of prescriptions. Within the Hospital, rotation through IV admixture and unit dose service is routine. Rotation to OR Pharmacy Services and Outpatient Pharmacy Services may be required. Performs data entry and other record keeping functions as determined to be necessary to the operations of the department. Fills medication orders including oral, injectable and topical medications and intravenous admixtures. Enters patient demographics, insurance information and prescriptions into the pharmacy information system, prioritizing scripts for customers waiting. Appropriately handles and reprocesses rejected claims. Processes prescriptions, retrieves correct medication, fills and labels prescription and attaches any necessary notifications. Files completed scripts in the patient pickup bins after pharmacist verification. Answers telephone and assists customers at the lobby counter and Pharmacy drive‑through window. Updates and electronically transmits the daily drug order – monitors and documents/communicates special orders and shortages. Processes daily drug order from wholesaler, stocks drug shelves, checks for outdated drugs, logs controlled drugs and files invoices. Contacts supplier to resolve discrepancies on invoice. Distributes prepared medications to patient care areas, patient bedside and/or other departments of the Hospital. Reconciles cash drawer twice daily (opening and closing) and documents per policy. Performs other record keeping duties as required. Assists in training of new staff and a resource for IT support personal.

Qualifications
  • Required A level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of a general high school diploma program or GED.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and/or 6 months technician experience and/or graduate of an ASHP accredited technician training program. Preferred
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required Or
  • LIC-Pharmacist Intern - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
