Job description

What Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy services, including acute care hospitals, retail customers, ambulatory care, and specialized practices like oncology and cardiology.

Nuclear Pharmacy provides radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs under strict regulatory guidelines and consults with physicians and technologists on the safe use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapy.

Job Summary

The Tech I, Nuclear Pharmacy, assists pharmacists and Tech II in pharmacy operations and customer interactions. As a trainee, this role involves learning facility and equipment preparation, inventory management, quality checks, and participating in dispensing processes. The position also includes order preparation, data entry, and miscellaneous tasks as needed.

Schedule
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Typically Monday - Friday, 12:00 am to 8:30 am.
  • Flexibility required for different days, hours, and schedules based on business needs.
Responsibilities

Under supervision of a licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals, complying with state and federal regulations. Duties include:

  • Preparing prescriptions and obtaining pharmacist approval.
  • Drawing doses into syringes or vials.
  • Performing quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Receiving, documenting, and storing pharmaceuticals per guidelines.
  • Maintaining inventory records.
  • Assisting with labeling blood cell products.
  • Cleaning laboratory and facility areas.
  • Performing clerical tasks, including record keeping and billing.
  • Delivering pharmaceuticals using company vehicles as needed.
  • Communicating with customers via phone.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
  • IL State Pharmacy Technician license preferred.
  • National pharmacy technician certification preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy technician experience highly preferred.
  • IV experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Flexibility for various shifts preferred.
  • Comfort with repetitive tasks and working in a nuclear environment.
  • Proficiency with technology such as computers and tablets.

Pay rate: $18.50 per hour
