As a Pharmacy Technician, you support the pharmacy team to deliver operational and service excellence. You are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring, personalized service.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Provide a positive patient experience by demonstrating empathy, creating personalized moments, offering immunizations and other services, and solving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as directed—putting away medication deliveries, performing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, waiting bin inventories, etc.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team: embrace a growth mindset, seek feedback, and pursue opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; travel to stores in the market as required.
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws and CVS policies on controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and patient privacy.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing) where legally permissible and as trained.
    • Complete required licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
    • Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the on‑duty pharmacist.
    • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
    • Collect and document patient information and monitor vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Meet all state board of pharmacy requirements—age, education, licensure/certification as mandated.
  • If no state board requirement for age, be at least 16 years old.
  • If no state board requirement for education, have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school or an equivalency program.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification vary by state; employers will provide guidance.
Essential Functions
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, confirm prescription information and label accuracy.
  • Customer Service and Team Orientation: look for ways to help people, respond to patient reactions appropriately.
  • Communication Skills: use verbal and written communication, active listening, and clear instructions.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: use math to solve dosage and inventory problems.
  • Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose the best course of action.
  • Physical Demands: mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching, typing, and visual acuity requirements as described.
  • Additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of prior pharmacy technician experience.
