Job summary

CVS Health in New York is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team in delivering efficient, accurate prescription fulfillment and compassionate service.   • Process inventory activities including put-away, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks.
  • Maintain attendance, complete required training, and ensure prescription accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and team; handle math for prescription quantities.
  • Support scheduling and travel to other market stores as needed.
  • Protect patient privacy and comply with laws and professional standards.

Job Purpose and Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within a CVS Health® store. You are often the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Provide positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, offering immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone, and resolving or escalating patient problems.
  • Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law, including accurate put‑away of medication deliveries, cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting‑bin inventories.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embracing a growth mindset, actively seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, traveling to other market stores as required.
  • Comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards, protecting patient privacy and security.
  • Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, voluntarily staffing off‑site clinics) where lawful and supported by required training.
Immunization Responsibilities (where permissible)
  • Complete additional licensure and training requirements to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
  • Educate patients about vaccine importance and refer to pharmacist‑on‑duty for vaccination questions.
  • Monitor and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events per public health requirements.
  • Collect and document patient information, track and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
  • Comply with all state board of pharmacy requirements, including age, education, and licensure/certification; if not specified by the board, must be at least 16 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Meet state‑level licensure and national certification requirements as applicable.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Exhibit attention and focus, including concentrating on tasks, pivoting quickly, and ensuring prescription accuracy.
  • Demonstrate customer service and teamwork by helping people in a friendly manner and responding appropriately to patient reactions.
  • Communicate effectively, using verbal and written skills, active listening, and clear instructions.
  • Apply mathematical reasoning to calculate prescription quantities.
  • Resolve customer and colleague issues by choosing appropriate actions.
  • Meet physical demands such as mobility, lifting up to 20 lbs, repetitive finger movement, and maintaining visual acuity for detailed tasks.
  • Perform any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of prior pharmacy technician experience.
  • Experience in retail, medical, or customer service settings.
  • Ability to work across multiple store locations within the market.

  • Typical pay range: $19.00 – $29.00 per hour.
