Job Purpose
As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and delivering caring service that exceeds expectations. You will operate as part of the pharmacy team through adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication, contributing to a safe and inclusive culture.
Responsibilities
- Live our purpose by following all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, including at pick-up, drive-thru, and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services as appropriate; resolve or escalate patient issues as needed.
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership (e.g., stocking deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, waiting bin inventories).
- Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs; support a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; travel to stores in the market as needed.
- Understand and comply with applicable laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; adhere to CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, and patient privacy and security.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point-of-care testing) where allowed by law and supported by training and certification.
Immunization Support (Where Permissible)
- Complete licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration as regulated by the state Board of Pharmacy.
- Educate patients about vaccines and refer vaccination questions to the Pharmacist-on-duty.
- Monitor for and report adverse reactions per public health requirements; review and collect patient information; track and document for each applicable patient.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Must comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- If not mandated by the state board, minimum age is 16 years.
- If not mandated by the state board, minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent, or active enrollment in high school or equivalent program.
- State-level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe.
- Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; pivot as needed to meet patient and business needs; confirm prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety.
- Customer Service and Team Orientation: proactively help people in a friendly manner; recognize and respond to patient reactions.
- Communication Skills: clear verbal and written interaction with patients and colleagues; active listening and appropriate questions.
- Mathematical Reasoning: perform calculations for dispensing, days’ supply, and bottle counts.
- Problem Resolution: identify challenging interactions and determine the best course of action.
- Physical Demands: mobility, lifting and carrying items, reaching, repetitive finger movements, and visual acuity for tasks such as transcription and computer use; capable of lifting up to 20 lbs as needed.
- Ability to receive detailed information via oral communication.
- Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is $17.00 - $27.00 per hour.
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on experience, education, geography and other factors.
