Job Purpose and Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely and accurately while providing exceptional customer care. You will apply Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication to support a safe, inclusive, and high‑performing pharmacy environment.
Responsibilities
- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Adhere to pharmacy workflow procedures at each pharmacy workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, creating heartfelt moments while serving patients at pick‑up, drive‑thru and over the phone; offer immunizations and other services at the register and over the phone; provide compassionate care by solving or escalating patient problems.
- Execute basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by pharmacy leadership, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts and returns‑to‑stocks.
- Support a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge, and be receptive to feedback.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as needed by business.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state and local laws, regulations, professional standards and ethical principles. Comply with CVS policies and procedures to ensure patient safety, controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping and privacy protection.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (e.g., immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, off‑site clinics) where allowable by law and supported by required training and certification.
Immunization Responsibilities
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for preparing and administering vaccines.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer queries to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions, reporting events as required by public health authorities.
- Review and collect patient information; track and document each applicable patient.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
Required Qualifications
- Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education and licensure/certification.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state; candidates must meet all applicable requirements.
- If the state board does not specify a minimum age, the candidate must be at least 16 years old.
- If the state board does not specify a minimum education requirement, the candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in a high school or high‑school equivalency program.

- Use and understand verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.

- Apply math to solve problems such as calculating tablets to dispense, daily supply, and bottle quantities needed for a prescription.
- Problem Resolution:
- Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and select the best course of action among multiple options.
- Physical Demands:
- Be mobile, remain upright for extended periods, lift and move items, reach overhead, and perform repetitive finger motions.
- Lift objects up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs; occasionally lift negligible amounts.
- Communicate spoken instructions accurately and comprehend detailed oral information.
- Any additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years of previous Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Ability to work in the home store and travel across the market to meet business needs.

Pay Range: $16.00 – $25.00 per hour
