Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by filling medication orders, pre-packaging, and handling daily dispensing tasks across inpatient and outpatient areas.

The role includes training to complete sterile products compounding for non-hazardous and hazardous materials in outpatient oncology settings; requires M-F day shifts with 2-4 shifts per month, and uses Pyxis and EPIC systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Pharmacy Tech State of NM
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician-PTCB
  • OR Certified Pharmacy Technician-NHA

Responsibilities

  • Performs non-sterile medication ordering, preparation, and dispensing activities.
  • Uses Pyxis, Pharmogistics, CII safe for workflow.
  • Non-sterile compounding, labeling and repackaging.
  • Non-sterile unit dose packaging; cart, tray, and kit preparation.
  • Deliveries to patient units and ancillary areas.
  • Maintains records for controlled and non-controlled substances.
  • Adheres to the Department Compliance Plan for Controlled Substances.
  • Performs other functions as required.

Summary

Presbyterian is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. Under the supervision of a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for filling medication orders, pre-packaging, compounding pharmaceuticals, refilling stock supplies, delivering medication, and performing various clerical duties as required.

The chosen applicant will be trained to complete sterile products compounding for non-hazardous and hazardous compounding in our outpatient oncology pharmacies. Must be able to work M-F day shifts and 2-4 shifts per month at minimum.

Responsibilities
  • Performs all non-sterile medication ordering, preparation, and dispensing activities, including, but not limited to:
    • Filling medication orders for inpatient and outpatient areas of the facility
    • Use of pharmacy technology Pyxis, Pharmogistics, CII safe
    • Non-sterile compounding, labeling and repackaging.
    • Non-sterile unit dose packaging
    • Cart, tray, and kit preparation.
    • Handling of non-sterile hazardous medications
    • Proper waste or disposal
  • Maintains required record-keeping for controlled and non-controlled substances.
  • Delivers supplies to the patient unit and ancillary areas.
  • Answers telephone and responds to questions and problems.
  • Checks stock on a regular basis to identify and reorder outdated stock and ensures that stock is maintained in accordance with manufacturer requirements.
  • Responsible for adherence to the Department Compliance Plan for Controlled Substances.
  • Performs other functions as required or assigned.
