Job summary

Texas Health Plano seeks a Pharmacy Technician I to support hospital operations in the Pharmacy Department. This role entails timely medication preparation and delivery to nursing units, with a focus on accuracy and patient safety within a 386-bed facility.

The position requires a high school diploma, RPhT on hire, and strong English and computer skills, with IV certification preferred. PRN rotating shifts include two weekends per month.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required.
  • Pharmacy Tech Hospital experience is strongly preferred.
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required.
  • Other IV Certification Upon Hire is preferred.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra. The ability to work alone and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including use of technology where appropriate.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation; reflect quality improvement and Patient Safety standards.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth; lead by example and manage own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and model teamwork.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks under supervision.
  • Share responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering process efficiencies.
