Job summary

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician II for Retail to support patient and employee prescriptions in a high-energy retail setting.

Responsibilities include prescription data entry, filling, POS transactions, and coordinating delivery. You will work from the Retail Pharmacy or designated offices, with potential to remote in the future; prior Hospital pharmacy experience is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire required.
  • 6 months’ experience in a Texas Health hospital pharmacy.
  • 2 years of previous Retail Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English, computers, and basic math.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Must be self-motivated and proactive in duties.

Responsibilities

  • Complete prescription data entry and filling; sell prescriptions through point of sale and arrange delivery/shipping.
  • Prepare and deliver medications to nursing units/departments and storage.
  • Train new employees and maintain competency.</li>
  • Help minimize pharmaceutical costs and discover process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with Retail Pharmacy and provider offices to serve patients.

Join our team at the Retail Pharmacy in a high intensity environment with future growth as a Technician Liaison! We are the corporate Pharmacy for Texas Health where we process patient and employee prescriptions. We have several upcoming service lines, to be able to better serve our patients by meeting them where they are, so come join us from the beginning!

This position will serve as the Pharmacy Technician Liaison between the Retail Pharmacy Provider offices in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex servicing patients, employees and Ambulatory Pharmacists.

Here’s What You Need
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire required
  • 6 months’ experience in a Texas Health hospital pharmacy required
  • 2 years of previous Retail Pharmacy experience, previous prior authorization processing and prescription benefit billing experience highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra.
  • The ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Candidate will need to be self-motivated, a team player, an effective and timely communicator and have the ability to be proactive in their duties.
  • Candidate must be able to prioritize due to urgent & time sensitive tasks.
  • Candidate will complete prescription data entry & filling process along with selling the prescription through point of sale and arranging delivery/shipping to patient.
  • Candidates must have good phone etiquette.
  • This position requires the ability to perform essential duties such as lifting, standing, walking and moving equipment for the duration of the shift.
What You Will Do

Tasks specific to Tech II:

  • Functionality requiring additional competency above Tech I, may require less supervision than a Tech I
  • Autonomous responsibility either with record keeping or as a single point of contact outside the department
  • Advanced technology expertise and ownership
  • Delegated functions of pharmacy leadership (manager or lead technicians)
  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and patient safety standards, programs and initiatives. 10%
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors. Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Manages own time and shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies. Validates competency completion for new employees.
