Job summary

Texas Health Resources Plano is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I in the Pharmacy Department. The role involves timely preparation and delivery of medications to nursing units and other departments, ensuring accuracy and adherence to patient safety standards.

The position is PRN with rotating shifts and two weekends per month, offering opportunities for professional development, team collaboration, and cost-saving initiatives within a high-quality hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Pharmacy Tech Hospital experience strongly preferred.
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician upon hire required.
  • IV Certification upon hire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, utilizing available technology as appropriate.
  • Ensure accuracy of own work and maintain required competencies and documentation per quality/safety standards.
  • Ongoing professional development, leads by example, manages own time and accountability.
  • Communicate effectively and build positive working relationships while modeling teamwork.
  • Train new employees on routine tasks under supervision.
  • Help minimize pharmaceutical costs and identify new process efficiencies.

Work location: Texas Health Plano - 6200 West Parker Road TX 75093-7914

Work hours: PRN- rotating shifts, two weekends a month

Here’s What You Need
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • Pharmacy Tech Hospital experience is strongly preferred
  • RPhT - Registered Pharmacy Technician Upon Hire is required
  • Other IV Certification Upon Hire is preferred
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language, computers, the ability to adapt to various software systems, and basic math including conversions, proportions, ratios, and algebra. The ability to work alone and as part of a team.
What You Will Do
  • Timely and accurate preparation, delivery to the nursing units/appropriate departments & storage of medications, including (when appropriate) the use of technology to do so, varies by location.
  • Ensuring accuracy of one's own work as well as the maintenance of required competencies, and other documentation. Must reflect consistently departmental quality improvement and Patient Safety standards, programs, and initiatives.
  • Ongoing professional development and growth, leads by example, perpetuates accountability, manages own time.
  • Communicate effectively, develop positive working relationships and role model teamwork that reflects the Texas Health Promise Behaviors.
  • Trains new employees on routine tasks, under the direction of designated personnel.
  • Shares the responsibility for minimizing pharmaceutical costs (including wastage) and discovering new process efficiencies.
